This is my first attempt at blogging, which I began in July 2009. I heard a recruiter say he expects all writers to have a blog or blogs. While I consider myself more of an editor than a writer, I figured I’d try one. I’ve returned to work after 14 months of unemployment (May 2009-July 2010). This blog has been about what’s going on in my life. The struggles of being unemployed, looking for work, and returning to work. Friends and family (including dog Sandy). Training for marathons. College football. Things like that. I live in Cary, N.C. (near Raleigh) with my wife Carolyn and Sandy. I grew up in Carrollton, Ga., about 45 miles from Atlanta, and moved to North Carolina in 1993.
Hi,
My name is Cliff. I am a landscape architect from California. I am trying to do quick background check in regards to a non-profit group called Action School Inc, based in Raleigh, NC. (www.actionsch.com)
They want me to do some volunteer design work for a project they are working on, a “Children’s Amusement Park”.
I got you name from one of their web pages where it has your name as well as others, thanking a list volunteers for this non-profi… you may see here:
http://www.actionsch.com/aboutus.shtml
However, their website does not say much else about them, therefore I thought to dig deeper and did a Google search from the list of volunteer names and found your blog..
Please let me know if they are a legitimate group, if in fact you did some volunteer work for them. I already did some preliminary design work for a guy named Andrew, and I would like to know more before doing more volunteer hours with them. I am not suspicious, but I have not been able to verify much from just their web site.
Thank you kindly, if you can send me a quick email and let me know what you think, I would greatly appreciate it,
-Cliff
Hi Cliff:
I did do a couple of volunteer proofreading projects for them last summer – some brochures. I also dealt by email with Andrew. I never talked with him. It seems like a legitimate group. I was expecting another project or two from them last July but didn’t hear back from them until March, when I had another project going on. Good luck.
Jack
