- I'm an editor in transition now after 26 years in the newspaper business. I was laid off a couple of months ago. Since then I've been looking for work and doing a lot of networking. I've been married for a couple of years. We have a 10-year-old Lab mix dog named Sandy and live in Cary, N.C. My wife and I are both in a marathon training group. She got me into it four years ago. I'll be doing my fifth marathon this fall. She'll be doing her seventh.
